wisdom tooth operation and facts..

First of all, impacted teeth is not a rarity. It is a normal issue, i assure you. More and more people are having 3rd molar removal. And in some countries, it's considered like a must.

Most people might ask, why is this happening?  How come our 3rd molars grow in an awkward angle? Well. let Dr. Nina answer your question. This is due to the fact that human beings are growing smaller by the day, since we use less muscles and bones to do our daily chores. Next, we rarely use our 3rd molars, where molars usually have a big surface for grinding and making our foods easier to swallow..Yet, our diets nowadays consists of soft processed food, where we don't really need to chew so much. So, biologically the need for having an extra grinding surface has been reduced, or in other words, it is not necessary anymore.

And
yes, Dr. Nina herself also have went through this kind of situation before. Both her lower 3rd molars have been removed, because it has grown in a way that it pushes the 2nd molar and also became a perfect site for the food debris to get stuck and causing gum inflammation. It later results in pain and swelling. After the removal, its easier for the teeth to be cleaned, and avoids further problems such as destroying the neighbouring tooth, which can result in a bad case of filling or removal of both teeth.

So, how do you know if your 3rd molar have grown/ erupt? Most probably, the teeth will start to appear by the age of 18. Look at the back of your 2nd molar, if you spot something white under the gum surface, it is most probably a sign of the 3rd molar erupting soon. Ask your dentist about it, and ask if its necessary for it to be removed in the future. Also a good telltale sign is the appearance of a bump of gum at the back of the last teeth, the bump  is so big, it hinders you from closing your mouth properly. Again, it is best to ask your dentist about it. This is why its very important for you to be having dental check-up every 6 month, so that the development of your teeth can be monitored, and does not disrupt the vitality of other teeth. Prevention is always better than cure.

Don't worry about the treatment, its nothing to be afraid of. Once you're anaesthetised, you won't feel anything, insyAllah. Some dentists do offer the use of general anaesthesia where you will sleep throughout the surgery.

Dental care advice: It is best for the patients to properly clean the area between the affected teeth and its neighbour. Use a small rounded edge toothbrush, with soft bristles, and make sure you reach all the way back and behind the teeth. Don't forget to floss, especially if your teeth overlaps others.

ayuh jaga giginya!

I hope this article is useful for everyone who reads it. Thank you :)

p/s: tak perlu beli berus gigi dengan teknologi paling canggih, yang penting gosok caranya betul. elakkan dari beli berus gigi yang bulu keras, nanti senang utk gigi dan gusi jadi rosak.
